مقدمه: قرار گرفتن در معرض آسیب، قبل و در دوران بلوغ دارای پیامدهای خاصی برای رشد شخصیت و افزایش خطر ابتلا به اختلال شخصیت مرزی است. هدف پژوهش حاضر تعیین نقش واسطه­ای راهبردهای مثبت و منفی تنظیم شناختی هیجان در رابطه بین آسیب کودکی و نشانه­ های شخصیت مرزی بود.
مواد و روش ­ها: روش پژوهش حاضر توصیفی از نوع همبستگی و جامعه آماری پژوهش تمام ساکنان منطقه هفت شهر کرج در تابستان سال ۱۳۹۶ بود که از میان آن­ها ۳۰۰ نفر با گزینش تصادفی به ­صورت داوطلبانه انتخاب شدند. ابزار پژوهش شامل پرسشنامه آسیب کودکی؛ پرسشنامه تنظیم شناختی هیجان و سیاهه نشانه­ های مرزی بود. داده­ های پژوهش با استفاده از مدل­ یابی معادلات ساختاری تحلیل شدند.
یافته­ ها: نتایج نشان داد ضریب مسیر کل یعنی مجموع رابطه مستقیم بین آسیب کودکی و شخصیت مرزی و رابطه غیرمستقیم این دو با نقش واسطه­ ای راهبردهای تنظیم شناختی هیجان (0/01=β=0/654 ،P)؛ ضریب مسیر مستقیم رابطه بین راهبردهای منفی تنظیم شناختی هیجانی و شخصیت مرزی (0/01=β=0/513 ،P) و ضریب مسیر غیرمستقیم بین آسیب کودکی و شخصیت مرزی یعنی رابطه غیرمستقیم با نقش واسطه­ای راهبردهای منفی تنظیم شناختی هیجان (0/01=β=0/550 ،P) مثبت و در سطح 0/01 معنادار است؛ به عبارت دیگر به احتمال زیاد دارای علتی غیر از شانس بوده است.
نتیجه­ گیری: به نظر می­ رسد آسیب­ های دوران کودکی مانع از گسترش توانایی­ های تنظیم شناختی هیجانی به شیوه­ای سالم می­ شود. عاطفه منفی در افراد دچار اختلال شخصیت مرزی، آغاز­گر چرخه راهبردهای منفی تنظیم هیجان از جمله نشخوار فکری است و منجر به عمیق­تر شدن تفکر خودسرزنش ­گرانه و دگرسرزنش­ گرانه می­ شود که در نهایت نشانه­ های اختلال شخصیت مرزی را منجر می­ شوند.
