Introduction: Cardiac diseases are of of the most common diseases in the world. Patients with these diseases should be treated for a long time and cardiac rehabilitation must be performed for them in order to return to an active life. There is an inverse relationship between the amount of physical activity and mortality rate in patients with cardiac diseases. Exercise-based rehabilitation is an important and effective part of comprehensive care of patients with heart diseases, which in addition to controlling the disease, declines its progression and improves its symptoms. Hence, this article by utilizing the scientific evidence, reviewed the beneficial effects of exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation and training characteristic in patients with cardiac diseases.
Materials and Methods: In this review article, PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar databases and Persian language articles were used for searching the relevant studies.
Results: The performance of exercise-rehabilitation by patients with heart diseases enables them to perform their daily activities and improves their functional capacity. There is an inverse relationship between participation in exercise-based rehabilitation program and mortality rate.
Conclusions: High-intensity exercise improves cardiac functions and exercise capacity. Type, intensity, frequency, duration and need to supervise exercise rehabilitation could be determined individually according to each patientchr('39')s symptoms.
