Introduction: Asthma is a chronic inflammatory and reversible airway disease. Modification of lifestyle by increasing obesity prevalence and decreasing physical activity is one of the main cause of its rising prevalence. Patients with asthma have lower fitness than their healthy counterparts. Regular exercise improves fitness in Asthmatic patients and reduces the symptoms of the disease. Hence, this article by utilizing the scientific evidence, reviewed the beneficial effects of exercise in patients with asthma diseases.

Materials and Methods: In this systematic-review study, PubMed and Google Scholar databases and also Persian language articles were searched by using asthma, exercise, aerobic activity and respiratory function key words.

Results: Different types of exercise are useful in asthmatic patients, but rhythmic exercise, such as walking and cycling with moderate intensity, induce more additional protective effects against asthma. Regular exercise by improving physical fitness and strengthening breathing muscles promotes quality of life in people with asthma.

Conclusions: Regular moderate exercise promotes physical fitness, lung function and so quality of life in asthmatic patents.
