Introduction: Multiple Sclerosis is one of the most common neurological diseases in human and most disability disease in young age people that severity of it has inverse association with mental health. This study examined the effectiveness of dialectical behavior therapy on mental health and depression of women with multiple sclerosis.

Materials and Methods: Current study is quasi-experimental and include two groups; experimental and control groups. Statistical population of current study, included all women patients with multiple sclerosis that admitted to occupational therapy and physiotherapy clinics in Hamadan province. Research sample were consisted of 36 subjects, was reduced to two groups, each one have 15 individuals, that have been done by randomized treatment or, random selection, but the selection of subjects for inclusion in the study, were selected based on simple non-randomized. Experimental groups were evaluated by Lavybvand scales for depression, anxiety and stress. According to that, presuppositions necessary for multivariate covariance analysis and multivariate variance analysis were not met, then we used uni-variate variance of analysis for obtained data.

Results: Our results have shown that there were significant differences between depression scores of experimental group with dialectical behavior therapy and control group (P=0/001).

Conclusion: In the field of therapy and work with chronically ills and those who are living in crisis mode, dialectical behavior therapy due to the nature and efficacy of it, seems to be very useful.
